Review of The Wall Street Hotel, New York

Finding a good hotel in any major city is always a challenge, and New York is no different. In fact, there’s so much choice it’s absolutely overwhelming and its hard to know where to turn. Having visited the city before and staying in Midtown, we decided we want to get out of the main centre and try somewhere a bit different.

Enter the stunning Wall Street Hotel, a relatively newly opened hotel and an absolute hidden gem in the city. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for good NYC hotel options.

The Wall Street Hotel is located in the Financial District, right on the southern tip of Manhattan. It’s close to major sites such as the 9/11 memorial and museum, the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall.

It’s also just a short 5 minute walk from Battery Park, the hopping on point for ferries across to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. And in the opposite direction, it’s only a 15 minute walk to the Brooklyn bridge, making a day trip to one of New York’s most famous neighbourhoods on foot perfectly possible.

Finally, if you do want to head up to Midtown or Uptown Manhattan, it’s right next to a number of subway stations, with easy access within 45 minutes to anywhere in the city. A perfect location win.

The accommodation was the highlight of our stay at the hotel.

The room was modern, clean and spacious. With a huge king size bed, comfortable seating area, and lots of space, the room felt more like a suite than a regular room. The details were impeccable – for example, the mini bar was well stocked with lots of different alcohol, plus so many snacks for after a busy day exploring.

Our beautiful room

The bathroom was absolutely stunning, decked in white marble. I have to say the shower was one of the most incredible I’ve ever had in a hotel room, and the we described it as a “jet wash” given the water was so powerful. It was a struggle to remove myself from it each morning!

Room cleaning was to perfection, with a day time cleaning service and night time turn down. My favourite feature, the evening laying our of slippers, was on offer – which always makes me happy. Plus each night we accumulated Lindt chocolates galore on our pillows; they know the way to this girl’s heart!

Just lovely

The hotel offers three options for dining. The first is the Lounge on Pearl, a beautiful modern bar, offering drinks, cocktails and bar food. We ate here before leaving for the airport, and the food was of good quality.

The lounge hosts live jazz every Thursday and Friday night too, making it a popular spot. We had to book our table 24hrs in advance given the event is so popular. The bar is always open to visitors too, so we found it often busy with people having work meetings, grabbing a coffee etc.

The second option is the formal restaurant, La Marchande. This is a super fancy restaurant, labelled as a modern French chophouse, and headed by Michelin-starred Chef John Fraser. Given the prices we didn’t eat here.

There is also a rooftop bar, Tontine. Situated on the 15th floor, it has nice views of Lower Manhattan and the East River. It features a 180-degree terrace and a Parisian-inspired interior and is a perfect spot for some cocktails. Sadly, as it was so cold and windy during my stay, it wasn’t open!

Finally, the hotel does also offer room service. We didn’t order off the menu, but we did order a takeout pizza to our room, and the staff organised it all for us and delivered it to our door – perfect service!

The majestic bar

The hotel offers a number of amenities onsite beyond its three dining options. The main offering is the onsite Fitness Centre and Gym, which is well equipped and has lots of rave reviews on line. As anyone who knows me would guess – I didn’t step foot in it.

It also offers a number of bespoke services, such as a bath running service for guests staying in a suite, valet parking, and bespoke comforts in every room. I was impressed to see a menu offering free personal care items such as deodrant, shaving kits, toothbrush etc, plus options for luxury items at a price such as phone chargers, blankets, and even a Dyson hairdryer!! Unsurprisingly, I took home the free stationary which was rather lovely.

The hotel also offers bike and scooter rentals completely free, making a day of exploring across the metropolis that is New York just a little easier. These can be picked up just outside from reception, which is a lovely space with seats and a coffee stand.

So what did you think of The Wall Street Hotel? We absolutely loved it and found it a perfectly luxurious base from which to explore New York City. For me, there’s nothing like coming in from a busy day exploring to a calm, clean, and relaxing space to unwind and The Wall Street Hotel was just perfect for that.

Stay safe and happy travelling!

  3. The Wall Street Hotel looks absolutely lovely and inviting. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time in New York. If you visit the US again, be sure to come to the west coast; the most beautiful part of the country. 😉

    1. It was a wonderful place to stay! And we really must visit the west coast; we were only saying that earlier today – though we may wait a few years until the political situation is, hopefully, improved.

  11. Looks like an excellent choice, though, to me, the free bike rental is a non-amenity. I’ve cycled in London and barely escaped with my life. Never again in a big BIG city!
